COMPATIBILITY
Lacorsa is a simple but fun game! It scratches the itch for both board game and F1 fans alike!
I was looking for an F1-themed game that didn't take up too much time as a way to complement a few hours of Heat, and I have to say La Corsa delivers that in spades. Not only have I found it great for when you have 2 or 3 other people and maybe 30-40 minutes to play, but it's also been great running 7-8 people, each racing their own car, or when you have a 2-3 hour block to maybe run 4-5 races as a championship season.
I think the goal would be to be able to run a full 7 race session with 8 people on 4 teams. I would love to see the hijinks that would ensue from the wonderful blend of competitive and co-operative impulses in that scenario.
Maybe someday. But I'm thankful that Lacorsa is so flexible, yet enjoyable, to allow for such a variety of set-ups and challenges.
The mechanics of the game are based on the classic card game War, so it’s easy to get started and understand the basics of how to play. But winning Lacorsa is not reliant solely on luck. Incorporating motor racing elements like qualifying, track position, and passing. The racers have to choose the right time to make their move - too early and you risk fading late in the race, wait too long and the leaders may have extended their lead. The wooden track is elegant, top quality. The beautiful racing car pieces evoke a fun classical era. Expansion packs add more cars and cards for additional players and optional rules add more racing elements for those that want to be fully immersed in the racing theme. Lacorsa is just as fun with three players as it is with six player. The expansion allows up to twelve players. Flexible game play allows for fun, quick, 20 minute races and in-depth “seasons” engaging players for hours.
I received this amazing game and immediately played with my family to include my 12 year old son and my 8-year-old daughter. The game mechanics is simple and engaging and it brought so much fun to our family's table. It was fun to incorporate true F1 drivers into the mix as my son played as Landon Norris and Lewis Hamilton. In true fashion Lewis Hamilton won the driver's championship. We can't wait to buy more expansions.
We just got this game and love it! My 10, 8, and 6 year old play with us and have a blast. We found that they love to give silly names to their drivers and teams for the championship and we announce the game play like it is a TV broadcast with driver names called out for each pass attempt. The gameplay is quick enough to keep their attention and easy for them to follow. Great addition to family board game night!
